Joan Blumenfeld, MS, LPC, is a highly respected and experienced Geriatric Care Manager. She is well known for her compassionate care of and dedicated advocacy for her elderly clients. She recently retired from her long and successful career in private practice and is now consulting on end-of-life issues with older adults, their families and other professionals.
Mrs. Blumenfeld is a staunch supporter of palliative care. Palliative care is a relatively new medical specialty which focuses on pain and symptom control, quality of life, family involvement and all aspects of the psycho/social/spiritual life of a person with a life-threatening illness.
She received her BA from Sarah Lawrence College, and her Masters in Counseling from the University of Bridgeport. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Connecticut and a National Certified Counselor. She has been in private practice in Fairfield County, Connecticut for thirty-four years, the first fourteen years as a psychotherapist and the last twenty years in Geriatric Care Management.
She is a member of the Aging Life Care Association (formerly the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers), the American Society on Aging and the American Counseling Association.
